, but it continues to move west to east and under fremont street is the next step. the access trestle was completed all the way to fremont street. so the contractors now have a construction roadway, so to speak all the way out to howard at the end of the west end of the project. the awss work continues on mission street. they were able to get an exemption from the holiday moratorium to allow them to continue that work. so we'll finish that early part of next if year as they work through the holidays on mission continuing to put in the new water line. coming up next, the below-grade structure contractor who now has the geothermal and grounding contracts within their package will start that work in january. the buttress work will continue and the micro pile production, they completed 70 in the total production piles and that will hopefully be completed in the next 90 days and move into zone 2. of course the excavation will continue to work from west to east of the timeline update still remains the same.we're starting the below-grade package and superstructure package is out to bid and w

are combing through the ashes of a fire that sent black smoke over fremont all afternoon. we brought you this breaking news at 2:30 p.m. today as the fire raged inside the c&h enterprises building. >> paul chambers is live with the toxics that were inside the factory. paul? >> reporter: it has been three hours since the fire has been extinguishes. firefighters are out here making sure there are no hot spots. firefighters said they could see the fire from the middle of fremont from this company. >> reporter: coming down interstate 880 we could see the black smoke from 5 miles away. 1:45 p.m. this afternoon firefighters received a 911 call of a structure fire. crews called for back up, upgrading it to a three-alarm fire. this warns them of potential dangers. >> within the fammable categories, that is -- flammable categories, that is the worse. >> reporter: firefighters say the smoke was toxic because there was combustible oils and liquids inside. >> very toxic. you want to stay out of it. avoid it. anybody in the hot zone here, should have had a breathing apparatus on. >> employees ins

the trustle bridge is connected all the way to fremont street and the other areas continue to be under excavation and the buttress area at the east end. this gives you a breakdown of how the excavation is going. the dark photo, left side indicates making the final depth and they are continuing that dealing with the de-watering aspects from the rain and moves from west to east. so just some perspectives of how things have changed. you can see how the trest the bridge is now connected. hard to tell, but the ab and c levels are in place in zones 1 and 2 and at far end, all the way down to the d level. just a shot of some of the excavation and bracing going on and the conditions which the contractor is working under right now in zone 1. micro piles continue. they have 70 completed to-date, or by the end of november. installing bracing, under the 1st street bridge between zones 2 and 3. completing the trestle in zone 3. and excavation and bracing in zone 3 as it progresses along. the end section, the east end section, zone 4 buttress work continues. as i said they met the milestone of

and showers really spotty around san rafael heading down towards the east bay. fremont, milpitas around highway 680. you can see light showers. winds not as strong but we do have a flash flood watch. we're expecting several inches of rain. smaller streams may overtop banks. these are the areas, another strong storm will dump heavy rain on saturated ground. more than eight inches in the northern end of sonoma county. santa rosa six and a half inches. san francisco, two inches. san jose receiving an inch and a third. you can see towards livermore almost two inches of rain, nobody escaping the rain or the wind. winds were gusty here golden gate bridge, 60 miles per hour. 11 p.m. saturday night, stormiest weather north. as you're sleeping early morning hours 5:00 a.m. sunday, north bay getting pounded with heavy wind and rain. it shifts across the bay area, then really continues into the south and east bay. santa cruz mountains at 9:00 a.m. we have radar on mount st. helena. i'll be back to tell but a high surf advisory. how much rain and with we might get a break. >> thank you. >> t

the east bay are trying to figure out what sparked a huge fire in fremont. charles clifford was at the scene. >> reporter: just after 1:30 thursday afternoon, a huge column of black smoke could be seen rising just west of interstate 680 and fremont. crews on scene found the roof of cnh enterprises on fire. the size of the flames prompted firefighters to upgrade the blaze to 3-alarms. they also warned people in the area to stay in place and avoid the smoke. >> very toxic, you want to try and stay out of it, avoid it. anybody in what we consider the hot zone here should have had a self-contained breathing apparatus on. >> reporter: crews battled the blaze for about an hour. because of the size of the fire, firefighters mainly fought this place defensively, which means they sprayed water onto the building rather than going inside to put it out. >> it was unreal. >> reporter: about 90 people work at cnh. it's unclear when or if they'll be able to go back to work. >> just got new machines in there we were fixing everything up to get it really spiffed and be a top-notch machine shop, whi

kron 4 news station, this is the kron 4 news.the building houses a this was near fremont, and if the flames and a lot of smoke and the in golf. this is called the c a h enterprises. it is mainly industrial just off of mission boulevard near the 680 at boggs terrace charles clifford is a log. charles?. >> right now, this is right near boggs ave they have this year containment. add under control mobbing this up there are still fire fighters on the scene. making sure that the fire does not kick back up and also to the left there is a truck. so they can get to the top of the building. let me show you pictures. earlier, this started around 1:30. that large plume of smoke. there were on the scene that this was a big deal and they also upgraded this to a three-alarm fire and sprayed water on to it from outside instead of going into the building. it took them about one hour to get this building fire knocked down. the main concern because of the confederabecause of the-industrl scene it wanted to make sure that the people that were working nearby were aware of the dangers of that black smoke.

division between zones 2 and 3 on eastside of the fremont street. this will allow them to start the excavation underneath the fremont street bridge and start moving into that zone 4 portion of that zone 4 excavation early before the completion of buttress work. so that shoring wall went in or that cutoff wall went in this last period and will allow them to start excavating under the bridge. the awss work continues. as i mentioned there is just a couple of shots of the work progressing on mission street and the integral work around the other utilitis in the streets. so next up is the substructure package as i mentioned. so we'll just walk through that real quick. the shoring walls are already completed. you might have seen the slides before, the water table. the next step is the micro piles and there are a total of close to 1800 of them, the length of the project, but as they are completed the contractor, who is starting with the grounding and geothermal in january, underneath this will be installing the 5' thick piece of concrete. then the below-grade structure and the walls and the

fremont will learn today how the business plans to get going again. a fast-moving fire gutted c and h enterprises, a medical fabrication plant. amy hollyfield shows us what is left today. >> reporter: firefighters will be trying to figure out the caused to. take a look behind me. the building is not safe. they have secured it to keep people from getting inside. they are waiting until engineers can go inside and give the all clear that it is safe in there. this caught fire in fremont just before 2:00 yesterday afternoon. firefighters say the fire was intense, that the roof collapsed and they weren't able to go inside. there were about 60 employees inside the building when the fire started, one person even tried to put out the fire. >> i tried to do something but it just caught on too fast. it was pretty devastating. >> this fire was fully involved when we arrived. >> reporter: no one was literature. everyone got out okay. firefighters did evacuate a few buildings around c and h as a precaution but they cut it to this building. a firewall played a big role from keeping it spreading. dir
